The Art of Buon Fresco

The Fresco Photography Print Collection reimagines the ancient art of buon fresco as a contemporary form of collectible wall art. Practiced since Antiquity and perfected during the Italian Renaissance by masters such as Michelangelo, buon fresco is a timeless technique where natural pigments are applied directly onto fresh lime plaster, allowing color to become part of the surface itself. The result is exceptional depth, texture, and permanence that can endure for centuries.

Once completed, every fresco is captured through high-definition photography, revealing subtle textures, light, and surface details often invisible to the naked eye. This process creates a unique dialogue between ancient craftsmanship and contemporary photography — a new artistic approach we call Fresco Photography Prints.

Every artwork is produced as a premium museum-quality print on 310g Hahnemühle Fine Art Paper, internationally respected for its archival durability, rich detail, and soft matte finish. The result is a timeless collectible art print designed to preserve its beauty for generations.

Contemporary Fresco Art by Aleksandar Yuzev

Each original fresco is created by renowned Bulgarian contemporary artist Aleksandar Yuzev, a graduate of the National Academy of Arts with extensive experience in contemporary art and visual experimentation. His work bridges classical artistic traditions with modern minimal aesthetics, transforming historical techniques into refined contemporary compositions.

Born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1977, Aleks Yuzev has built an international career in contemporary art, raising questions about the contrast between desire and fulfillment, isolation and hope.

In the calm of his studio, with its sweeping views of Vitosha mountain, he sculpts his unique forms for several hours a day, striving to encapsulate their meaining and deep symbolism.

His works are widely exhibited in contemporary art galleries and at art fairs across Europe.

Fine Art Paper or Acrylic Prints

For a more contemporary and luminous presentation, selected works are also available as Acrylic Glass Prints. Fine Art Paper offers a softer, textured gallery aesthetic with natural depth and warmth, while acrylic glass enhances contrast, color vibrancy, and sharpness for a more modern architectural feel. Both options are designed to elevate contemporary interiors while preserving the character of the original fresco artwork.

Choosing the Right Artwork Size

Choosing the right size is essential to how the artwork lives within a space. In most interiors, larger formats create a stronger visual presence and allow the texture and detail of the fresco surface to fully emerge. For living rooms and open spaces, sizes such as 61×91 cm or 70×100 cm provide a balanced gallery-like appearance, while larger statement formats create a bold architectural focal point.

Framing Options for Contemporary Interiors

To complete the presentation, we offer carefully selected solid wood framing options in oak, black, and white finishes. Natural oak remains the most versatile choice, complementing both warm and cool interiors with understated elegance. Black frames create stronger contrast and suit graphic or photographic compositions, while white frames offer a lighter, softer contemporary aesthetic.
