FAQs

What is Buon Fresco?

Buon fresco is an ancient painting technique used since Antiquity and perfected during the Italian Renaissance by masters such as Michelangelo. Natural pigments are applied directly onto fresh lime plaster, allowing the colors to become part of the wall itself. This creates exceptional depth, texture, and durability that can last for centuries.

Why do we photograph the original fresco?

Photography reveals a completely new perspective of the fresco surface. Through controlled light, shadows, and high-definition detail, textures and nuances become visible in ways that are often difficult to perceive on the original wall surface. The result is a unique interpretation that combines ancient art with contemporary photography.
